Did you know that all children are musical?
Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical ability?
Experience Music Together® and find out how important--and how much fun--your role can be! Each class includes songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability.
Our Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so.
What and Where We Are
Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, Big Kids™, and the adults who love them! Research-based and developmentally appropriate, the Music Together
curriculum helps families, caregivers, and early childhood professionals
rediscover the pleasure in and educational value of informal musical
experiences. Music Together's nine song collections--each identified by its own
color, instrument name, and graphic--are presented in a 3-year cycle
of three semesters per year. They are nonsequential, so a family can
join at any semester and attend class for 3 full years before
cycling back to repeat their first collection.

Our babies and mixed-age classes are for children from birth through 6 months and from birth through kindergarten age, respectively, accompanied by a parent and/or other adult caregiver. We also offer the Big Kids program for 5- to 7-year-olds with or without an adult caregiver. Each babies and mixed-age class meets for 45 minutes once weekly; each Big Kids class meets for 60 minutes once weekly.
During the three-semester school year, we offer classes in seven locations in
southern and mid-Westchester, New York: Briarcliff, Chappaqua, Dobbs Ferry, Mount
Kisco, Scarsdale, Tarrytown, and Tuckahoe. During the summer, we offer
classes in most of our locations.

Are all children really musical? If so, why should babies and young
children learn to make music themselves, instead of just listening to
it? Learn the answers to these questions in recent articles published in
the popular (The Guardian; Parents Magazine Page 1 and Page 2) and academic (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) press. And to read articles about the Music Together program, go to Music Together's National Web site or download this article from Utne Reader, itself excerpted from an issue of Chronogram.
The benefits of music-making for babies and children may be something you're prepared to accept, but you may still question the benefits for you, the adult. If so, take a look at this essay (part of NPR's "This I Believe" series) by Brian Eno. It'll make your heart--and body--sing!
